Sharmistha Gangulyis the Hindustani Vocal instructor at Upasana Performing Arts Center.  Sharmistha has achieved her Prabhakar in Hindustani Vocal from Allahbad University under the guidance of Smt. Seema Dasgupta at Suratirtha Music School in Rourkela, India.  Her advanced training in Raag and Gaiki in Kirana Gharana was accomplished under the guidance of Guru Arun Debnath of Delhi, India.  She has performed in local TV channels in India and has received many awards and accolades for the same. She started performing in the US during her stay in Tulsa, OK in 2004, and has since performed in Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA and Kansas City, MO.

Sonia Chaudhuriis the Director & Kathak instructor at Upasana Performing Arts Center.  She has dedicated her career to promoting the appreciation of Kathak dance.  Sonia has been professionally trained not only in Kathak, but in Bharatanatyam and Ballet as well.   She has extensive experience performing in reputable events such as various Mid America Bengali Conferences in St Louis, Chicago and Nashville as well as Kansas City’s annual Bengali Conference.  She has toured extensively throughout the United States with her Guruji Pandit Sontosh Maharaj in cities such as Nashville, Memphis, Louisville, and Indianapolis.  Sonia has also had the experience of performing in prestigious venues in India such as the Arabindo Ashram and Children’s Theatre in Kolkata, India.  Sonia is involved in various community outreach programs and is a Guest Teacher at Nashville Ballet since the summer of 2013.
